Hiatus
The semester is coming to an end, and schedules all around are going wonky. So, as of now I'm putting the game on haitus until we can figure out a new time of all of us to meet for the game. Please post the times you're available to play, if you're still interested in playing.

The Game that Wouldn't Die

There's been some... let's say renewed interest in The Signal. I had already been thinking about it for a while, and then some folks that shall go unnamed came to me with their own ideas, so I'm going to run it by you guys. I'm thinking of reopening The Signal on a very limited basis, with a revamped version of the crew of Ghost. So far we already have these people signed on:
Myself as Kaede
Emi as Fy
Wolfe as Jacob
Eric as Cooper Goddamn-Whedon Haliphax.
Lav as a yet-to-be-named mechanic.
Scott as a yet-to-be-named medic/doctor person.
Sky. Sort of, maybe.
Are any of the rest of you interested in getting in on this?
P.S. I should add that this is by invitation only. No one new will be added to the game unless I know them personally, or another player vouches for them.

Name that Planet
And now for this week's contest. For this you will not need excellent Googling skills or a comprehensive knowledge of any particular subject. For this contest, you just need to come up with a good name. At the moment, the crew is on Kamchatka, and they've made plans to go to Hemmingway next. Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to come up with a good name for the next world the crew visits. Here's what you know about it: It's a moon, orbiting a gas giant, and it looks like this:

You can choose to name the moon only, or the moon along with the gas giant, or name the moon, the gas giant, and the other two moons in the picture if you've got a theme going (Curly, Larry, Moe, Shimp?). Good sources for names could be mythology (Persephone), literature (Ariel), places (New Melbourne), cool-sounding words (Shadow), cool-sounding words in other languages (Jiangyin), or stuff you just made up (Londinum, Beaumonde, Silverhold).
The person to come up with the spiffiest name(s) will get 5 AP and bragging rights. You can submit as many names as you want, so long as they don't suck.
P.S. I should add that the final decision as to the winning name will be made by someone that's not me, so this shouldn't be a mind-reading contest to intuit the sort of name I would like. Really. Have fun.

Transcripts
Hi guys,
I've been slack with the transcript posting, and for that I apologise. I can't really save transcripts on my computer for several reasons so I'm going to ask any of you that have transcripts to please email them to me. You don't have to have all; I know one or two of you have been absent once or twice. Whatever you have will be shiny, however.
IM me if you don't have my email address.

Another Contest
Someone complained that the last contest was too biased in favor of Signal alumni, so in response to that, I present you with contest #2. I found the following image while reading the newspaper today, and was a bit surprised and amused:

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to correctly identify what this image could possibly have to do with the game. The winner get 5 AP. The winner cannot be Lav.

A Contest! (and Incentive to Check Broadwave)
As I mentioned before, we're using the same planetary guide from the Signal for this game, which means it's cluttered with dozens of piss-ant little planets and moons I made up as part of minor plot points or as groundwork for storylines I never got to. Kamchatka is one such world that I created as a bit of backstory, but never got around to using. Until now.So, I'm going to have a spectacularly egocentric contest/scavenger hunt, inspired by one a.m. insomnia. The first person to correctly identify how Kamchatka came up in the Signal will get five free advancement points for their character. In the highly likely event no one gets it, the prize will go to the person with the closest guess. If no one is close, then the prize will go to the most amusing guess/comment to this post.
If this goes over well, I'll try to have more contests as the game goes on, as I think of stupid ways for you to compete.
Happy Hunting.

Bad News and a Poll
This Sunday's Serenity session in canceled. I'm sorry for the short notice, but Eric cannot make this game due to circumstances outside his control, and there is no way to run this game productively without Eli. Rather than waste your time with a frivolous side quest I pulled out of my ass, we'll just continue this next week. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
While you're enjoying your week off from Serenity, feel free to partake of some RPs. And while you're at it, I want your feedback on something. The Signal had a name, and FFSPT did as well for those of you that remember that far back. Should this campaign have a name as well, or should we keep calling it "The Serenity game"? If we want to give it a name, I need suggestions. Post them here.

An Experiment
In the name of science, I'm going to try to split the difference. From now on, if the current plot permits, feel free to do Signal-type RPs in between game sessions. This way you can flesh out your characters at your leisure while still having bar brawls on Sunday.
For instance: The next game session will start when the crew gets to Persephone. You guys can RP out scenes that take place between them leaving Beaumonde and them arriving in Persephone, so long as you edit the scene and post it on Broadwave after. We'll try it for a couple of weeks and it it works out, we'll keep it. It not, it was worth a shot.
Feedback, questions or comments? Post them here.

Resources
Hey guys. Just a small post today. I would like to call your attention to the list of links on the right-hand side of the page called "resources." Since this takes place in the Signal-universe, I brought over the planetary guide from The Signal and put it under resources. In the future, I'll probably put up a make map of Underdog and whatever else I think of that might be useful. If there's anything missing you'd like up there, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Serenity Cancelled Tonight - 01.28.07
A personal emergency came up. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. We will continue again next week.

Spring Schedule
Holy crap, guys. Did you deliberately create your schedules in such a way as to eliminate any overlapping openings? As it stands now, there's no ideal time judging from what's been posted here. The least suckiest time period seems to be Sunday evenings. So, unless any of you raise any objections before then, the new time slot for Serenity is
SUNDAY AT SEVEN PM
Mark your calendars. Pencil it in your day planners. Call your supervisor and tell them you have a standing appointment with your AA support group, parole officer, oncologist, or whatever lie you have to invent to be there every week. Your fellow players are going to depend on you to SHOW UP and BE ON TIME. I'm going to depend on you. And if I find out I can't depend on you and you didn't tell me in advance, I'm going to be explosively pissed off at you.
Our first meeting will be on January 21. Be there.
